Canon USA announced Monday the establishment of a new wholly owned subsidiary called Canon BioMedical, which will serve as a worldwide headquarters for the company's biomedical business. Canon BioMedical will develop, manufacture and market Canon’s molecular diagnostics and life science platform and look to "expand the use of Canon technology into other medical fields," the company said.
Joe Adachi, Canon USA CEO, remarked that "we are truly excited and proud to launch Canon BioMedical…committed to bringing to market innovative technologies and solutions." He added "we look forward to bringing Canon technology to clinicians and scientists all over the world."
Specifically, Canon BioMedical will look for "long-term future growth opportunities in previously untapped markets" including healthcare and medical analysis "through the use of existing and emerging Canon technology, as well as strategic partnerships," Canon USA said. Canon BioMedical will be based in Melville, New York, led by CEO Akiko Tanaka.
