Vault Health Rapidly Expanding into Decentralized Clinical Research
Hady Khoury joins as President of Life Sciences and Chief Research Officer, bringing decades of visionary leadership to accelerate company’s growth

July 14, 2021 - Vault Health today announced the hire of Hady Khoury (CORE-ee) as the company’s new President of Life Sciences and Chief Research Officer. Khoury comes to the healthcare company with more than 26 years of clinical research and life sciences leadership experience, where he will use his visionary and innovative skills to accelerate Vault’s growth into supporting clinical research. Vault is currently supporting nearly a dozen clinical studies, all employing a decentralized platform, which increases the likelihood of having more diverse, representative, and engaged study participants.

“The COVID pandemic underscored the essential value of virtual care,” said Jason Feldman, CEO and co-founder of Vault Health. “The traditional clinical research model posed many significant problems, including the difficulty of enrolling and engaging patients in fixed, centralized locations. The pandemic accelerated the shift towards decentralized clinical research, which Vault is uniquely situated to deliver on.

“As our Chief Research Officer and President of Life Sciences, Hady Khoury will be instrumental in that work,” continued Feldman. “We are excited to have his expertise in simplifying clinical development across a wide array of therapeutic areas and rare diseases. Khoury knows how to leverage his skills and talent to deliver solutions using real-world evidence, patient-centric approaches, and digital transformation, to meet the needs of public and private healthcare stakeholders.”

Khoury brings experience from a number of roles, most recently as Global Senior Vice President of Real-World Evidence Operations at Syneos Health. At Vault, he will lead the company’s expansion into supporting decentralized clinical research, aimed at conducting more efficient studies that better represent a general patient population. In line with Vault’s mission to make healthcare more accessible to more people, Khoury says these efforts will help patients who are willing to support development of new therapies get better access to life-saving or life-changing therapies.

“Vault is truly leading the way on a shift towards decentralized clinical research,” said Khoury. “Our nationwide clinical practice, with more than 1,200 practitioners across the United States, connects clinical study participants at home or virtually using Vault’s telehealth platform. This ability for participants to meet with clinical staff virtually or in-person when necessary allows us to not only engage with more existing study participants, but it enables us to cast a wider net in the first place—increasing the pool of potential clinical study participants to build a more diverse, representative cohort. Leveraging a successful U.S. platform will be setting the stage toward a global implementation. ”

During COVID, thousands of clinical studies came to a halt, challenging the ability to conduct research safely and efficiently. This was made worse by the reality that the participants engaged in these studies were often most at risk from COVID-19 exposure. The FDA issued guidance for investigators and physicians to consider alternatives for data collection, sample collection, and site visits.

“As studies get back on their feet, clinical research stakeholders will need tailored and flexible solutions to fit this new landscape,” continued Khoury. “The need for disruption was always there, but COVID just made it more pertinent than ever. We look forward to continuing to build upon our work through a modular approach tailored to participants’ needs, which enables us to power and support rapid and seamless clinical research. With our innovative platform, clinical practice, and expertise, we can partner with sponsors and service providers to build faster and more efficient research, suited for the post-pandemic participant population.”
