Ellipsis, Ceras partner on voice biomarker tech for mental health

Ellipsis Health will integrate its artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning technology, which uses the human voice as a biomarker for mental health and wellbeing, into Ceras Health's clinical monitoring and health data analytics platform, the companies announced. The firms noted that the combination will enable "real-time severity scores for anxiety and depression to improve care and triage patients."

Mainul Mondal, chief executive of Ellipsis, remarked that the "partnership will advance the state of mental health care…identifying people in need and then connecting them into integrated behavioural health services." Mondal added that the collaboration has "the potential to transform how mental healthcare is identified, monitored and delivered."

Voice as a biomarker

Ellipsis explained that its technology analyses a short voice sample, measuring and monitoring the severity of stress, anxiety and depression to create an "objective and scalable clinical decision support tool." Meanwhile, Ceras' solutions blend around-the-clock clinical expertise, remote patient monitoring, AI and advanced data analytics to help patients, especially vulnerable populations, get the whole-person personalised care they need to help improve their health outcomes. 

Under the partnership, of which financial terms were not disclosed, Ceras will use Ellipsis' clinical grade mental health assessment technology in its digital solutions.
