Noom announced Tuesday that Geoff Cook has been appointed to succeed co-founder Saeju Jeong as CEO. Jeong, who served in the role for 16 years, will become executive chairman of the company, as part of the planned leadership transition.
Jeong said Cook is a "transformative leader who will lead Noom through the next phase of our evolution," adding that "with his lengthy track record building and scaling businesses and revenue streams," Cook is "ideally positioned to accelerate Noom's growth and profitability."
Cook, who will join the company's board of directors, is a longtime social media executive, previously co-founding and leading the Meet Group. The incoming CEO said he sees growth opportunities for the digital health platform, which has raised roughly $669 million in funding to date. "Noom has this extraordinary brand—well known—and I think it’s scalable to other opportunities," Cook remarked.

In April, the company named Linda Anegawa as its first medical director. Anegawa is responsible for overseeing the expansion of Noom's behaviour change platform to include a broad range of chronic metabolic diseases.
Meanwhile, Noom recently launched a telehealth service, called Noom Med, that combines the company's platform with prescription obesity drugs for medically eligible patients. Other companies such as Ro, Teladoc, Omada Health, and WeightWatchers have also moved to prescribe GLP-1 agonists such as Ozempic and Wegovy in recent months.
