NuraLogix says Anura platform can be integrated into telehealth offerings

NuraLogix announced the availability of its Anura telehealth solution for integration into healthcare professionals' telehealth offerings, enabling the real-time assessment of vital signs during video consultation sessions.

The solution, which the company showcased in March, employs artificial intelligence (AI)-machine learning to "capture over 100 health parameters with a contactless novel form" of remote photoplethysmography, explained chief medical officer Keith Thompson. “We are seeing how advanced AI technology can be used not to replace clinicians, but rather to simply improve workflows and reduce the administrative burden of capturing patient data and performing chronic disease screening,” the executive added.

Facial blood flow data

Specifically, Anura utilises the company's DeepAffex, a cloud-based affective AI platform that collects facial blood flow data from built-in cameras of various devices such as smartphones, tablets or laptops. DeepAffex then uses advanced signal processing and machine learning to predict health parameters, including vital signs such as pulse, respiration rates and blood pressure.

NeuroLogix noted that the key features of Anura "include continuous two-minute vital sign monitoring during video calls, its own teleconference platform, quick integration with third-party telehealth solutions through a link, and the ability to provide a longitudinal assessment of vital signs rather than just a single snapshot."

When Anura was debuted, the company noted that the platform has been shown to predict whether an individual's HbA1c is >5.7% or their fasting blood glucose is >5.5mmol/L to a clinically accurate level.
