Twin Health is expanding its whole-body digital twin AI platform to help individuals tackle obesity and sustain weight loss while safely eliminating GLP-1 medications. The startup's Healthy Weight solution, available through members' employers and health plans, enables users to gain a deeper understanding of their body's metabolism.
Chief medical officer Lisa Shah said the company's app "complements GLP-1s, and focuses on sustainable weight loss built on small precise changes that are doable because they flow from each person's unique biology, habits, and preferences."
Twin's platform has previously demonstrated its ability to assist patients with type 2 diabetes in achieving remission and reducing their dependence on medications.
The company starts by creating a replica of each member's metabolism and preferences from thousands of data points collected daily. The “twin” then generates straightforward prompts on a smartphone-based app for each member, with a licensed clinical care team supporting their journey to "heal" metabolic disease through nutrition, sleep, activity and stress management.
The digital twin AI outlines specific steps for members to eliminate medication, lose weight, prevent weight regain and improve strength. The app also offers personalised insights, such as advising individuals to continue their current routine or notifying them that they are 14 days away from discontinuing one of their medications.
Late last year, the company raised $50 million in funding, adding to the $140 million it secured via a series C round in 2021.
